Question

csproj will not open

I installed Visual Studio Team 2008 on 3 different operating systems and I can't get any of them to open my project file. The error message I get is:

"The project file <file>.csproj cannot be opened." The project type is not supported by this installation.

What I've Tried:
The following solutions from thiand(http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vswpfdesigner/thread/06cf7bca-982c-44cf-aec9-99cf399b3000/) thread:


regsvr32.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectAggregator.dll"
devenv /setup
devenv /resetskippkgs

When I run "devenv /setup" from %\ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE I get "The following files were specified on the command line: setup these files could not be found and will not be installed.

How do I get my projects to open?

What are the different types of projects in the solution>?  Can you create a new project, and then open that solution?

Unfortunately I can't attach the project because that would be a security risk. The project is a visual c#. I was able to create a new project and open it, but it's not a problem with the file because it's working for other people.

Instead of attaching, you might want to open the .csproj file, which is XML, in Notepad, and paste that into the comment block.

That looks like the .sln file, but you are having a problem loading a .csproj file project, right?

That was the solution that triggers the error, as far as posting the csproj, the developer at my work doesn't want me to post it. He recommended installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 & ASP.NET MVC 1.0. They're currently downloading, do you think that might help?

Yes, I would suggest installing 2008 SP1.  That might have been one of my future recommendations...
