How to add a crystal Report onto a WinForm App

I need to add a button that the user can click on that will open up a crystal report in my application.

Right. Create a new form. Drag and drop a CRViewer control onto it. Then use the code i provided.

When  I browse to the crystal report that I have already created to add it into the CRViewer.. it does not show unit numbers.. it shows a list of colors.. see image..

That is down to your data and the design of the report to be honest. I think you are more expert in CR than me. But the actual question of how to show the report on button click has been answered! I dont mean you should accept my answer and stop the discussion. Are you sure you have correct data in the db table?

It's strange.. The report that I am pulling in is great... I can see it fine from the .rpt... nothing is wrong with the report.. I am sure of this.. It is when the I view the actual form it then only presents colors.

I tried using your code and I am having trouble there as well.. I was trying to stick to the original Q and just get the button to open the crystal report.. no luck.. I am going to keep trying to change the names. That must be the issue (naming)

As far as how did I populate the report - I used the CR Viewer and then browesed to a existing report. It is from the same database connection as the other datasets.

Dont confuse report with reportviewer(how did I populate the report - I used the CR Viewer and then browesed to a existing report.). The report viewer simply displays your report. My question was about the actual report. Have you worked with crystal reports in .NET?

No I have not.. This is a first for me.. My report comes from my network.. What am I doing incorrectly?

There are multiple ways of populating data on a crystal report, as you might know. Try connecting to a dbserver in the report designer (use the server explorer on the left hand side). Drag and drop some fields on the report and try opening it.
