dataAdapter.fill not working in vb.net

I created a new vb.net windows service project with a timer.  I created the SQL adapter and connection.  I was able to generate the dataset and am able to preview the data by right clicking the adapter without issue.

When my code gets to the following Me.SqlDataAdapter1.Fill(Me.DataSet11) the service stops with no error messages or the exception assistant popping up (which I think is a whole other issue in it self).

I try the same code from a button on a forms application and it works no problem.  Am even able to populate text boxes from the dataset.
