.net docking order

What controls the docking order in visual studio ?

You can manipulate it by cutting and pasting your controls back on the form, but is there a better way ?

Unless you manipulate it through code then the answer is unfortunately no.  It works off the main form that the controls are on, which is why the docking property works off that particular forms settings.

you can manipulate easily through the designer.  docking precedence is based on the controls order on the parent.  to change the docking order, right click on a target and play around with "send to back" and "bring to front", and you'll notice the changes.

And if you don't want to play blindly, just open the view View - Other Windows - Document Outline and you'll understand how your form is build and you can adjust the controls easily (by selecting one component and then clicking up/down)
