How to know if cdrom door is open?

I found in internet many softwares to open and many others to close CD door, but I want only ONE to toggle CD door status.

Any sugestions how to close CD if tray is open and open CD if tray is closed?

Let's suppose for a second that there is NO way to check status of the tray.
What do you want to achieve ? I imagine that your target is more than to toggle tray... What is it ?

To open, I would first close, then open. For closing, I would open and then close. One of the functions would fail, but who minds?
