Need help writing a program  to convert hex to dec for MC68HC11 processor

I am trying to write code that will that convert any Hexadecimal number between 000-3E7 to Decimal.  I would like to define the numbers using a 4x4 keypad.  Don't know if anyone is famaliar with, but the hardware i am using is in the FOX11 kit.  Any help as I am new to this.
