using tasm / masm syntax:
for variables (if max and min would change at runtime):
add to ".data"
<--code
max dd 12
min dd 12
ends-->
add to ".code"

mov eax, max
add eax, min
call DumpRegs
exit
ends -->
in FASM, you should enclose max and min into square brackets (while adding, not while declaring).
for constants (if you don't need to change values at runtime)
add to begin of file (generally, to any place):

max EQU 12
min EQU 12
// or
max = 12
min = 12
ends-->
And the code doesn't change (but you shouldn't add square brackets in FASM)
