I have tried writing code for one pass and two pass assembler but in vain.Please help me by providing a source code.Urgent!!

Using what language? C I assume?  Do you have the syntax parser in place?

Go find a Linux distribution that includes the source code.  All the source code you could ever wish for.

Try redhat.com for a Linux distribution.

I don't think that "writing an assembler" is a typical homework question.. it takes a lot of work to do so. (at least I never had to write an assembler... instead I was tortued with sort algorithms).


mimd.. what for a kind of assembler do you want to write? which cpu?

Hi,
 However when i was doing by Engineering we had subjects like Systems Programming (Text book John Donovon excellant book has Assembler theory) and Compiler Construction (Text book Aho) both of which required us to write Assemblers. Not the haevy weight sorts but definately assemblers that do some sort of job the actual assemblers do. So there are definately chances that this can be one of such assignments.

Other wise Donovons book is an excellant book on Assemblers and there are lot of others. Just assure me that the question is not a homewor!!!!

I had an assignment like this at university once. It was a for a theoretical CPU instruction set. Anyway, it's a lot of work.
How much have you done already, and where are you stuck exactly ?

The Experts Exchange policies that you agreed to when you joined prohibit asking for someone to do your homework for you.  Experts are also prohibited from doing you homework for you.

If you have done some actual work and are just stuck on some point, then it would be allowable to ask for and receive help.  What you are doing here is clearly against the policies.

There have been several discussions among the experts about doing homework assignments.  The general conclusion among the experts is to give guidance, but not to actually do the homework for the person. The purpose of homework is to learn how to program. If an expert does homework for others, they are not learning how to program for themselves.
