Text properties in console

Hi,

I'm a fairly new C programmer, i've seen some apps like for example a text editor where the programmer has used (1) coloured text in console, (2) centre alligned text...

I use VC++ as my compiler, ive tried to allign text using gotoxy() but later found that it's not included in the conio header file for VC++, is there an alternative method of alligning the text? As for colouring the text.. i have no idea how its done?

Any help, guidance or code snippets would be appreciated. Thanks.

The *easiest* way is to use PDCurses - a public domain version of the UNIX Curses library that is available for win32.  I think you can get it at SouceForge...http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/pdcurses.htm
