Logic for digital weigh scale?

Hi,      
      I have to program my digital weighing scale. My ADC can give 14 bit resolution for my 10mV range (transducer). So I mapped for every increment of 4 to 0.1 increment in weight(pounds). The maximum weight that can be measured is 330 pounds. So when the weight increases the loop also grows big. Is there a better logic that I can adopt? Also do advice me on the calibration procedure for my ADC 816 from Analog devices.
