Simple Peer to Peer application source code

I am looking for some good example of a simple peer to peer program. I am looking for source good for a server and client. Where a clinet connects to a server, and the server can handle more than one client.

Preffered code should be able to be compiled with GCC under linux. I am in need of a jump start and examples to build a project for school.

Thanks for the help so far, I have decieded to change the et up more to a FTP client server program, as this seams a little easier to impliment. I just want to beable to send and receive files and for the client to be able to get a list of files available on the server for downloading.

I will increase the points for this too.

providing source code for an FTP client for a school project would be going a bit too far ...
Till example client server code is fine as you still need to understand it and adapt it to your requirements if you need to make it do anything useful ...
But if we were to provide you code for an ftp client, I believe there would not be anything left for you to do
