The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Crash on Palm OS

Hey experts!  The code I'm working on is located at:

Background on the program: It's job is to parse a chemical equation (such as "2H2O = 2H2 + O2") and tell whether it is balanced or not.  If it's not balanced, it lists the mismatched elements and how many are on each side, to aid in manual balancing.

I recently added a chunk of code (starting on line 298 and ending on 369) that parses parenthetical groups (such as "C(HO)3", meaning the same thing as "CH3O3").  The code works fine with one level.  However, when you get to three (such as "(((C)))") the program continues to work but crashes when I try to quit the program, with this error message:

MemoryMgr.c, Line:3675, Invalid chunk ptr

I am running this program on a Tungsten T with OS 5.0 installed.  The program does not run at all on POSE with OS 3.5 (due to a stack overflow).

If I use ten nestings ("((((((((((C))))))))))") the program soft resets the device (no error message).

I'm not too concerned with deeper levels of nesting, but it shouldn't be crashing (and that bugs me).
