Inputing from a txt file into an array of type DOUBLE

ok here goes i am able to output data from another program into a txt file which looks like..

4.5550,505.5055
4.5453,343.2323

Basically i want to build a program that can read from the text file, and input the file into an array of type DOUBLE and would look like this : 4.5550,505.5055,4.5453,343.2323

this would allow for analysis of the figures (the intention of the program)

it seems that the most common way would be to first input it as type char and then convert it any suggestions would be great.

at the moment im playing around with strtok and not having much luck. as you can tell i am new to the c seen and have mainly played with java.
