[C] Maximum Number of Child processes running with fork()

Hi!

i'm writing a concurrence tcp server and i'd like to know if there is a way to control, when a new connection occurs, if the server have reached the maximum amount of child processes.

And i'd like to know if there is a way to decide the maximum number of child processes running at the same time by passing the integer like a parameter, such as:

./server 3

where 3 is referred to the max number of processes running at the same time.

For the moment i'm using this simple code to test the result of fork()...

Can u help me? I've never seen this kind of process managing in C and i didn't know that it's possibile to choose and control the max number of processes running at the same time.
