Apologies, when I use a multiple lined text file the error message from line 37 is displayed. I still get the output from line 14 and I don't get an error message from line 17 either.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I'm trying to create a function for reading a plain text file using dynamic memory assignment, and it works fine ... but only if the file contains a single line. As soon as I go to 2 or more lines my gremlins error message pops up. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

I can recreate the error by making filelen too large, which would prevent fread from returning even one full block, block, although it can return less than that many one byte blocks.
I would guess that this may be caused by ftell and fread counting lengths differently, which might happen on systems that handle files differently depending on whether they were opened in "r" or "rb" mode
