Browse All TopicsHi experts,
ALSA has always been really foggy and confusing to me. Hopefully someone can help me out.
I'm just trying to make a simple program in C that uses ALSA to 1) reads in a mono wav file (44.1khz, 16-bit, mono), then 2) plays it out my desktop stereo speakers in a loop. Finally, 3) the volume is different on the left and right speakers, e.g. 50% on the left speaker, 80% on the right speaker.
For some reason my googling has come up totally dry. Can anyone help me out?

You might want to check out fmod. Its a great multiplatform sound-engine. Its easy to use, but still tons of features, like a designer tool, where you create and modify your sounds with a GUI, i.e. left/right speaker configuration and just load and play them in your app.
