Visual Studio .NET problem with using class library. Any help appreciated!!!

Hello,

     I'm writing a class library in C# with VS.NET.  It compiles perfectly, no errors or warnings.  When I create an executable project in the same solution, and I try to use the class, I get a System.FileNotFoundException or something like that.  I added a reference to the library though the Project->Add Reference option, though the Projects tab.  Any suggestions?

     Any help is really appreciated, I'm working on a deadline with this.

If you are using the same output directory for your projects then you should set the "Copy Local"-property on the reference to your class library to False.
Does that help ?

If you are not using the same output directory (which seems to work better) be sure you reference the class library-PROJECT, i.e. not the DLL. Referencing the DLL itself will make VS.NET go nuts about file versions.
Be sure you set the "Copy Local"-property to True in this case.

I think pflyckt is on the right track.

Add the project you are trying to include to the solution and then using the build configuration manger, make sure that the new project you just added does NOT get build. Next add a reference to the project that you just added.

Something interesting happened:

When I'd tried everything you guys suggested, I finally gave up and started to play around with the assemblyinfo.cs of the class library project, which I had modified to include my company name, assembly and product name, etc.  I deleted all of that so it was like when I first made the project.  I built it again, and the test program was able to call methods from the library!

Any ideas on why this is, and how to fix it so I can put my company's info in the assemblyinfo.cs and still have the library work at the same time?
