Problem with ATL Composite Control

I have a problem with the ATL Composite Control from
Visual C++ . I want to make an OCX with a complex interface (some Hierarchical Grids, some ComboBox,and more) like OCX-s from Visual basic, but I cannot access the methods of this objects.
I put some controls on the Composite Control Designer and I want to add some items to combobox, change the BackColor of the some cells from Hierarchical Grids, and so on, but I can access an object only like a CWindow:
CWindow hw;
hw =GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT1);
hw.SetWindowText("xxxx");
And I have access only to the CWindow methods of the object(SetWindowText,left width...).
If I write something like this:
CEdit *hw;
hw =(CEdit *)GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT1);
hw->SetWindowText("xxxx");
I get an error.
I cannot access the SetItem method of a combobox or
the GetRows method of a grid and so on.
How could I access all this methods of an object (ComboBox,Hierarchical Grid,PictureBox,....) drawed on a
Composite Control ?
Does anybody know ?
