cout vs printf question

Hi all,

I code a program in C++ and what i have noticed is that there are not any solutions to handle the output of calculations according to your needs.

I wrote:
float a,b=0.333,c=0.456;
a=b/c;
cout << a;

and what i get is 0.

Also the same happens when i am trying to save some values in a file.

ofstream << a;

the result will be zero.

How can i solve it without having to use printf or any other function of C?
