hi, im new to cpp. im currently having a problem when retrieving my link list. i always need to return the class after adding the data into the linked list so as to prevent the linklist from setting back to null in the constructor when i call the getLinklist method in another class.. Therefore, im wondering if there is any way to set the linklist as a global variable so as i can access the pointer of the linkedlist from every class once i set the linked list pointer to that global variable? thanks for the kind attention.

It doesn't matter what list you're using. I just put the std::list<data> there for example; that can be replaced with your list type. You can use the static data member, and make it public or (better idea) create an accessor function that returns a reference or a pointer to the list:
mylisttype &X::GetList()
{
return my_list;
}
Keep in mind that an accessor function to return a static member variable would also have to be static.
im trying to do this
if(LinkList != NULL)
{
if(LinkList->Prev!=NULL)
{
LinkList->Prev->Next = CharPtr;
}
CharPtr->Prev = LinkList->Prev;
LinkList->Prev = CharPtr;
}
but it says it can use != to compare
error : operator defined which takes a left-hand operand of type 'class std::list<struct CharacterStructure,class std::allocator<struct CharacterStructure> >' (or there is no acceptable conversion)

'LinkList' is a structure called CharacterStructure.
and things to clarify:
1) can i access the link list and do a comparison like LinkedList != NULL in member funtions?

You could make it static. A static variable is shared between every instance of the class.
In X.h:
class X
{
...
static std::list<data> my_list;
};
In X.cpp
std::list<data> X::my_list; // You need to initialize it in the cpp file, otherwise the memory won't get allocated for it
