The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Microsoft Visual Studio.Net Win32Console Project DLL

Asked by Danohu in C++ Programming Language, Microsoft Visual C++

Tags: , , ,

I purchased Microsoft Visual Studio 2003. I am able to build a  Win32 Console Project using Hello World.

Build:1 Succeeded, 0 Failed, 0 Skipped

When I click on Start without debug and run the code the console shows Hello World.

// Win32ConsoleHelloWorld.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application.
//

#include "stdafx.h"

int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[])
{
      printf("Hello World!\n");
      system("PAUSE");
      return 0;
}

When I then place similar Hello World code in a Win32 Console Project  DLL I am unable to test whether it works as there is no console that pops up with Hello World when I click on Start without debug. The DLL builds successfully as indicated by:

Build:1 Succeeded, 0 Failed, 0 Skipped

The code is:

// Win32ConsoleProjectDLL.cpp : Defines the entry point for the DLL application.
//

#include "stdafx.h"
#define DLL_USE
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HANDLE hModule,
                       DWORD  ul_reason_for_call,
                       LPVOID lpReserved
                               )
{
          return TRUE;
}

DLLFUNC elf_enp()
{
      printf("Hello World!\n");
      system("PAUSE");
      return 0;
}

How do I establish whether the DLL is working (I am assuming by getting a console to pop up showing Hello World?) Perhaps there is an alternative way to check the DLL is working? I am a newbie and would appreciate some expert help.

Thanks
