do i move the indy folder into the codegear program folder. cant be as simple as double clicking the bat files surely? i clicked the bat files you suggested but a command propmt loaded and dissapeard in under a second?

Unzip to a directory and run the correct batch file in the lib directory that corresponds to your compiler version.
IIRC, you should run Fullc6.bat
You may also have to run the Clean.bat and buildres.bat before doing that to get rid of your current Indy installation
and also to build the resource files.
