Question

SMTP/POP user and password login when sending email from a web form - how to?

Basically, I want my web application to send out emails. Theres plenty of documentation showing how simple this is to do, but non deal with the question of logging on to the smtp or pop server.

Is there a class that can deal with this too, or will I have to buckle down and start working at the sockets level?

To my knowledge there is no built in mechanism for smtp authentication in the framework provided library. However there are plenty of third party components available. Being as cheap as I am, and always willing to take on a project where I need to do some research, I wrote my own using sockets, and some RFC documentation. It was really quite easy. More then willing to share if you're interested.
