ShellExecute for C#

Hello Experts,

I am looking for an equivalent to ShellExecute in C#. I know that this can be accomplished with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start. However I would like that the console application I am calling could run minimized - or even not visible in the taskbar. This is not possible with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start. Any ideas?

You can use the ProcessStartInfo class to set all these properties and then do:

ProcessStartInfo psi = new ProcessStartInfo();
psi.SetSomeProperties....
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(psi);

To make the window invisible set the windowstyle property to:

psi.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden

Use ProcessStartInfo.UseShellExecute property (set it to true). In this case file name may be text file, doc file etc.

I am trying to call an executable with just 1 parameter, but I imagine I am doing something wrong. Could you please have a look?

psi.FileName = Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + "\\Some.exe";
psi.Arguments = Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + "\\Some.dat";

Could you pst the few lines before that (the constrctor etc) and after (executing) aswell?

psi.FileName = Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + "\\Some.exe";
psi.Arguments = Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + "\\Some.dat";
psi.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden;
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(psi);
