IDataObject cast problem with .NET 2.0

I'm having trouble with part of my file drop.  I can't use the System.Windows.Forms.IDataObject that I get when data is dropped on the form, but .NET v2.0 comes with a trick new IDataObject that supports manipulation of the FORMATETC, so I'm trying to figure out how to cast the simple IDataObject into the sophisticated IDataObject.  It could be that I have to abandon the Windows Forms drag and drop fetures alltogether to get the functionality, but I hope not.

DragEventArgs e is passed in from the event.

System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject dataObject = e.Data;

Error:
Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Windows.Forms.IDataObject' to 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)

Here is how to explicitly cast:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject dataObject = (System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject)e.Data;

the interface descripton from System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject and System.Windows.Forms.IDataObject are different.

so it is not possible to make a explicit cast
