I am developing an application in which I am storing various type of files(jpg, doc, txt, xls ........) in sqlserver database in an image field.
How do i write the infomation from the database back to a file on the hard disk back in its original format(jpg, doc, xls.........).
In addition to writing the file back to the hard drive i want to open it, and if the user makes any change i want to update the database with respective changes.

you would get it back from sqlserver as a byte [] ... writing a byte array to a file is quite easily done (Stream.Write(array, 0, array.length)) ...
As for the filenames, you would have to store them in the database ...
For monitorring changes to the file, the FileWatcher class will fire events whenever changes are made to a file, not sure you just need a high level view or?
