Question

How to get C# to interface w/ Excel?

I am trying to use C# to interface w/ an existing MS Office document and also to create a new spreadsheet.  From what I'v read on the web, I have to reference the Interop Assemblies before I can use this statement:

using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel;

I looked in all my project references and I can't find out how to reference this.  I am using Visual Studio 2003.

Hey,

1. Go to Solution Explorer.
2. Add Reference (right click Reference)
3. Select the COM tabsheet and then Microsoft Excel 10.0 Object Library.
4. Click Select button and OK.

I did, but when I type:

using Microsoft.

intellisense brings up:

CSharp
Office
Visual Basic
Win32

and when I get to

using.Microsoft.Office.

it only brings up:

Core

It doesn't bring up an option for Interop

But, I can see that Excel is there in my Solution Explorer window.

If you want to use Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel namespace, you must download Office PIAs from Microsoft

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c41bd61e-3060-4f71-a6b4-01feba508e52&displaylang=en

Install to your computer and then reference to it.

So, for each version of Microsoft Office (2000, XP, 2003), must I download a different set of Office PIAs?  And when I deploy this application to users, must they also installs it?

Sorry for respone late. You only need to download it one time. When you deploy your application to user, just deploy with the assembly that you refered to
