Hi all,
I am trying to create a custom server control similar to the combobox. I want to be able to allow users to start typing and have a list box appear with all relevant data that begins with what they type. As the user types more, of course the choices narrow. This will be something similar to the drop down, however, with that control I can't progressively type. If I type "p" then I have to continue to type "p" the iterate through the choices if I type "p" then "r" then the drop down takes me to items that begin with "r" and not "pr".
The control will be databound which will supply the list of choices.
So I guess my question would be, do I extend the dropdown control to incorporate this functionality or do I try to create a composite control? I have been working on extending the textbox to include a OnKeyUp event, but that isn't working out too well.
Any sugeestions?

the metabuilders.com tools did not suit my needs. I actually have a working control. I created a web service to qurey my database and I have a custom control comprised of a text box and a list box. The list box is populated based on what the user types in to the text box.
The solution uses AJAX on the client side to make the connection to the web service and parse the resulting XML to populate the list box.
I'm sorry to do this again but can we close and refund?
