anyone take a proveIT exam?

I have been asked to take an online exam by a company called http://proveit.com/
in the areas of C# and ASP.Net

I am not looking for sample questions or anything unethical.
Just looking for your opinion on the structure, range of subject material and test format.

I have taken a C# exam at brainbench and did very well, so I am not intimidated by the subject matter.

I have assigned 500 points to this question because I am hoping to get multiple acceptable answers and split the points to the deserving experts.

thanks and have a super day.

Is there a sample test to look at ? Without paying them money, that is. I personally have never heard of this company before.

But, my advice is, take a hard look at your prospective employer. Are they really the people you want to sign up with ? Experience shows that those people who rely on standartized tests to select their employees, usually are so out of touch with their own developers that working for them ends up being a very frustrating experience, or a very short experience, or both.

i am with you, man.
this is more like some a-holes who wont even submit my resume without me passing this exam.

the last bunch of jack-@sses i took the brainbench exam for never even found me a job even though i placed at the 97th percentile.
Have you tried using Monster.com?

http://www.monster.com
http://www.hotjobs.com

just a suggestion.  I got my current assignment from a resume that I posted on Monster.com - which was then picked up by a placement agency (COMSYS), who asked me some 'qualifying' questions, to be sure that I had the minimum acceptable level of VB.NET knowledge (the questions had actuyally been supplied as a screening rtest, by the ultimate customer, so they were relevant to the actual assignment - rather than being 'shot gun' type screening, which is what ProveIT or Brainbench 'tests' are, in reality).

finally got around to taking the proveIT C# exam after the holiday break.

i got 27 out of 38 questions in 27 mins without using any reference materials.
(ref materials were forbidden by the test instructions)

what a piece of junk.

spelling errors.  poor grammar (i mean english grammar not c# grammar)

a few ambiguous questions.

a few questions that were based solely on your ability to remember syntax or obscure facts that did not in any way test your ability to code or problem solve.

if i were a hiring manager i think this is definitely one of those tests that would not be too useful for weeding out candidates.

I agree with you completely. I took the ProveIt exam. It was the syntax questions that got me: Intellisense usually corrects the error you may enter, so why should I cloud my brain with useless syntax? I like to concentrate on the method, and not the specifics. I decided I didn't want to work for a company that valued my memory more than my ability: My nine year old can remember syntax. Even Einstein refused to memorize personal information that he could easily look up.
