The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Advice on protecting my simple program with online validation

I've created a very small program which I'd like to sell online. I want to have some type of security in place to prevent people from simply sharing a single copy of the program, so I've come up with the following idea.

- On the initial execution of the program a form will open asking for their email and password. This email/password combo has already been entered in a database at the time the program was purchased by this individual online.
- Once entered, the information is checked against the database. For each email/password combo, 3 IP addresses will be allowed. If when the program is run initially and the data is entered on a 4th machine, that account will be disabled.
- All executions of the program after this initial time will not see the email/pw form anymore, but the check will still be made to the database online for that previously recorded combo.

I think this sounds okay...but I'm more than open to suggestions.

After suggestions have been made, I'm looking for links, information, and advice regarding how I might go implementing this through C#. This involves the following parts:

-Only showing that login form on the very first execution of the program, saving the email/pw combo somewhere so that on later executions that data can be pulled in the background
- How to interact with a mysql db online (or maybe receive messages from a PHP script that interacts with the db?) using this C# form.
