It turned out that I did not have my default website started which I think utlimately caused the problem. I am accepting your solution just because you did reply. I want to say thanks.

Internal Server Errors can only normally occur when access a page.
What method of upload are you using? webdav?/ftp?/mapped drive?
Do you have this issue for other files?
Maybe the file already exists and you don't have permission to overwrite it?
