The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Dependency issue when registering a .NET DLL

Asked by guidway in C# Programming Language, .Net Editors & IDEs, .NET Framework 2.x

We have an application that is built in .NET 2.0 (C#) that has some strange behaviour when we are registering one of ours DLLs. We reference some DLLs from Component One namely:
C1.Win.C1Flexgrid.2
C1.Win.C1Command.2
C1.Win.C1Chart.2

Now everything works fine during registration if all these files are in the same directory as our application when we register it, but if C1.Win.C1Flexgrid.2.dll is not in the directory we get the following message: "Could not load file or assembly "C1.Win.C1Flexgrid.2" etc....". OK, no problem there, makes perfect sense.

Now if we put Flexgrid back in the directory and remove either of the other two (C1Chart or C1Command) and attempt to register it, it registers fine! Of course the application crashes as soon as it attempts to use these files since they are not where they should be. Everything is referenced the same in our project.

My question is why does FlexGrid report registration problems if it is not found, but the others do not? Is there some way to change this so they will all report registration problems if any/all are not found? It seems that if ANY dependency is not found it should report errors during registration but it does not. Why? Start Free Trial
