I've recompiled a csproj file type in Visual Studio, which has generated a new dll. How do i register this with my software?

Following on from my last question:

I have edited the LayoutSOEUtils.cs in C# Visual Studio and removed all formats except for PDF. I have rebuilt the app, which has generated a new version of the LayoutSOE.dll.

Please can you tell me what the steps are to update the software once I have recompiled because I have tried copying the dll over the original and running the web adf again but it doesnt seem to have any effect&.is it necessary to recompile the exe with the new dll file or something?
