DataGrid Watermark

Hi,

I'm using a WinForm DataGrid as the main control in my application. Users have complained that when UATing they get confused between UAT and Production clients as often it is necessary that they keep production open while UATing (for their own business reasons). My idea was to have a watermark across the DataGrid saying "UAT". As the user would scroll up and down / right and left the watermark would remain in the centre of the displayed dataGrid. However,  can't find anything which would begin to explain how to do this. Any ideas?

Set the transparency level of the DataGrid to somthing like 85% then place an image behind the datagrid.

ShazbotOK, thanks, I must give that a try tomorrow. I had been thinking tonight about an image. But How can I get "UAT" to stay in the centre of the displayed grid area - essentially fixed. I don't think your above solution will do that (although I must try it!). I could be fighting a losing battle on this front!

Also how do I set the transparency level of a dataGRid - I can't see any property. Thanks

if you datagrid itself is in a fixed position with it's own scrolling then the image would just be positioned behind that and would stay in-line...

try using the "Opacity" setting on the datagrid (this is .NET 2.0+ BTW)

my bad... looks like that is only available on the "form" level not the control level -- sorry
