does it return an item? is there a text property on the object? you could put that at the end of the parenthesis for your string match?

Browse All TopicsI'm trying to determine if a string value exists in a dropdown list. The string that I am comparing against is a string in a record set.
I'm using the following code and getting the error as shown below:
Compiler Error Message: CS0019: Operator '==' cannot be applied to operands of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls
Source Error:
flag = true;
if (BillingCountry.Items.Find
{ }
else
What am I doing wrong ?

You need to access the Text property to get the "text" within the ListItem. FindByText returns a 'System.Web.UI.WebControls
Also, your second problem is a String cannot be compared to a Char for some reason, so you'll have to use " " instead of ' '. It should look similar to this, if I am not mistaken in wht you're looking for.

does findbytext return a string?
if you put a ToString() outside of the parenthesis the error will go away but that's probably not what you are trying to accomplish
