Question

C# decimal value

Hello,

I am using ASP.NET to gather map co-ordinates and am trying to store them in a database table.

In the db table they are stored as Decimal type (18, 15). Which I think is the correct format?

Anyway, reading these values out is no problem but inserting or updating them is. I have tried this..

So I am passing these values.
            g1.Latitude = (decimal)51.593282;
            g1.Longitude = (decimal)-4.121246m;
To the c# class and that is then passing to the stored procedure. When it does get to the database it is looking like this.

52.000000000000000
-4.000000000000000

I think it may be a problem with the decimal format? Can anyone help?

Use Convert.ToDecimal(<object>, <IFormatProvider>) to convert your value.

In IFormatProvider, use System.Globalization.CultureInfo InvariantCulture to ignore any user-settings.

That should work, yes.

I figured this out myself but converting to decimal did help i think.

Basically in the stored procedure i was not stating the length of the decimal. I did it and it worked. So decimal(18, 15) instead of just decimal.
