I've bound several fields on my GUI to the List and application users can iterate through the list of users with all fields changing in synch

Since _userController.Users(); returns a collection of Object you cannot convert it to a single object.

To get the current or active object, you will need to obtain this from the UI control that is manipulation the objects. For instance if you had the users within a dropdownlist having being bound in the order as they appear on the list then you would do the following:
