C# - using System.Web.UI.Control.LoadControl() from within a class file

From within a the code behind file of an .aspx page you have access to the following method.

System.Web.UI.Control.LoadControl()
Summary: Loads a System.Web.UI.Control object from a file based on a specified virtual path.

I am trying to gain access to this same method within a C# class file but no matter what I do I can't seem to access it.

Here is the help for System.Web.UI.Control, I do not see a LoadControl() method

You cannot run this code in your apsx code-behind?

I can access it from within the aspx code behind, but I cannot gain access to it from within a separate class file.

My bad, should have re-read your post...  Is your class inheriting from System.Web.UI.TemplateControl?

I already tried that, it didn't work.  Also, I'm now running into another similar problem.  I'm trying to access ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.  I've added 'using System.Configuration;' to the top of the class document but I'm still not able to gain access to that property.

Even if inheriting these classes as you described is possible, I can't inherit for both of these situations.  There has to be another way of doing this.

You're class file would inherit from System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.  It's the only way to get access to the LoadControl method that I know of.  I had no problem using the LoadControl() method when I inherit from TemplateControl.  

From you other post, it sounds like you're environment may be corrupted.  No other ideas here...

Can you show me the class definition where you are inheriting the System.Web.UI.TemplateControl?

In it's most basic form:
