Question

How to see the web request or mimic a flash selection on a web page.

Asked by: Dynotoe

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I use to automate a web request to download files from a website.  This site changed to a flash menu interface so that I cannot see the URL or URL format when a certain area of the flash object is clicked to get the filesI want like I did before for my code by just building a URL for them.

I was wondering if any of you clever fellows know either how to acomplish this on a page flash widget and/or is there a way to see what a click on an area of flash menu does to get those file downloads as far as a web/php or other request on a web page?

Let me please extebt my gracious thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers - Dynotoe

Very cool.

Do you think if I can see what a flash click causes on the webpage, that I could somehow automate it in code?  Or does flash web content only pass information when manually clicked on?  In otherwords does flash just send a regular web request?

you can monitor all requests & responses
all form & query variables, cookies etc... you can re-issue requests, build requests etc.

we use this tool every day to debug our applications :) this is not a automated test tool :)

it does not matter you or javascript or flash start the request, you will be able to monitor it...

it sits between browser and server and deciphers all communication... to be able to do that with https you have to make some changes... check this page if you want to monitor https too...
