What resource is available (in terms of books, tutorial) to use Visual Studio 2008 to create those components? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Tom. You can go for any of Microsoft Supported languages like VB,C#,J++,C++ for COM/DCOM programming . But your requirement says it should be in VisualC++. Implementing COM/DCOM using VC++ is more efficient. For learning and implementind MSDN is the best source itself.
