Hello suneelchetty,
hte latest stable Release is at the JDK 6 Update 11. I suggest using JDK 6 as:
cite:
"J2SE 5.0 is in its Java Technology End of Life (EOL) transition period. The EOL transition period began April 8th, 2008 and will complete October 30th, 2009, when J2SE 5.0 will have reached its End of Service Life (EOSL)."
Best regards
I disagree, the customers (even not the programmers) decide when a product
dies: many systems consist of components from several sources.
When one of them refuses to release a product for JAVA 1.6, the customer
fears that the components will not work (together) any more and stays for
an unknown period with 1.5, ignoring the fact that no more updates become available.
You can see the same with operating systems: many organisations are only now
migrating from Windows98 to Windows2000.
If JAVA 1.5 works fine for you, enjoy it.
