How to separate functional code and HTML to develop web-based applications

Dear all,

Could anybody give me the best suggestion on separating the functional code(JSP) and HTML rather than messing them up in a page. This will make us the programmers easy if the designer needs to change the look and feel of the web application.

Try to use custom tags wherever possible. I think that's the easiest way.

I think beans are the easiest way. But, I agree with  rjkimble and ronan, that tags are the cleanest.

Also, if you use JSP 2.0, then EL, simplified tags and tag files will make life much  easier.

Please have a look at Struts.java Struts.

You will get a better idea

Stuts is actally an extention of MVC 2 Architecture.

MVC 1 is page centri architecture.

MVC 2 is with dividing the program as Modal View and control.

MVC2 Extensions or Struts.

are the ones which make your life much easy.

JSP Beans were actually created with this specific requirement in mind. try going through those concepts. Struts will also be a viable alternative!

sorry for my late reply..thank you for your ideas but senior programmer has found something he said we can use the methodology..i think he is using java beans..but i am not sure yet..

oh yes how to split my points to everybody? pls let me know because all of you gave me the best solution..
