So I'm looking to try to transfer my PHP expertise to JSP fluency with as little pain as possible. What kind of server is usually used for JSP? Tomcat on Apache? Something else? How are cookies handled? Sessions? Database layers? Etc, etc, etc.
Basically, a (link to a?) primer on java web development, aimed for someone experienced with web dev but not so much with java is what would really fit the bill here.

As a PHP guy, I would do the simpler examples first and then have a look at JSTL. This is the new tag based standards in JSP which would allow you as a PHP developer to make powerful sites quickly.

I think the best way to pick it up is a quick read of the Sun web development tutorial and a trip to www.apache.org.
Still my first sources after years of java web dev.
