EJB MDB project on RAD on WAS7
Hi,
I am working on EJB MDB project on RAD on WAS7 application server.
I am seeing something like
ibm-ejbext.properties
ibm-ejb-jar-bnd.xmi
ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi
ejb-jar.xmi
where datasources , active specification, destination queues etc are configured. I wonder what for above each xmi file used. What are the advantages of using them. What is activation spec.
Please advise. Any links, ideas, resources, sample code highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Where can i find additional information, documentation and usage. We are using them in our project frequently.
You most probably do not need to edit them manually, they are internal to the software you're using. But if you want to know more about them you have to look at the RAD (if this is where you see them) manual.

I think we are editing them for JNDI name etc. May be is it because we are using ejb 2.1 rather than latest ejb3.0/3.1 where it all happens automatically. Please advise

ibm-ejb-jar-bnd.xmi is used to bind an entry in the global JNDI name space for the EJB home object.
ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi is used for the ejb extensions, for example if you want to change the session time out.
ejb-jar.xmi is an extended deployment descriptor that describes JNDI bindings for the EJB attribute. In essence in this file you preset the JNDI name you want to have associated with an EJB resource.
