I need one with db connectivity

by: objectsPosted on 2009-10-19 at 19:30:58ID: 25610649

why? how the authentication is done is really unrelated
Its just a database query

by: l_starter_lPosted on 2009-10-19 at 20:30:32ID: 25610875

Because I have no experience with coding servlets so I need to see an example with database. I am using a Microsoft access database to store username and passwords

by: objectsPosted on 2009-10-19 at 20:45:41ID: 25610935

you just need to add your database code to the allowUser() method, none of the servlet code needs to change

  protected boolean allowUser(String account, String password, String pin) {
    // access database here, return true if valid login
    return true; // trust everyone
  }

by: l_starter_lPosted on 2009-10-19 at 20:55:15ID: 25610966

what would the Sql query be?

by: objectsPosted on 2009-10-19 at 21:33:12ID: 25611079

depends on your schema and whether you want to pull user details from database
simplest case would be something like

select count(*) from users where name=? and passwd=?

or:

select * from users where name=? and passwd=?

replace * with the fields you need

How do I make it check the value in the database if it is not valid check the next value

by: objectsPosted on 2009-10-20 at 16:13:28ID: 25619571

you don't need to check the values at all, the query will only return rows that match

you don't appear to actually store the fact that the user logged in in the session
see the link I posted earlier for an example of how to do that.
