I'm gonna write an experimental application. It needs to plays streams ( avi/mpeg/mp3 whatever ), able to watermark, edit ( cut, merge etc... ) and other complicated stuff. I've been focusing for JMF for a while but every forum I read confused me a bit. Question is "Is JMF dead ?".
If it is, then I need alternatives. I need to know every positive and negative aspects of it. Googling not helping much. So, here I am.

girionis, i ask for deletion of the question because no solutions provided here. Sorry but your post is not a solution to question. I knew about jfm and i know its still "under development". I cant risk my project by using some unfinished tool. Thats why your solution is not accepted.
I was continuously searching about it and decided to with JMF. Yes, Its old but at least its complete.

I do not think JMF is dead there are many projects out there that use JMF, although I agree, sometimes too much information might have the opposite results. An alternative I can think of is the Freedom for Media in Java (http://fmj-sf.net/) which is open source and API-compatible with JMF.
