Browse All TopicsHi experts,
Isnt it true that when a class extends another class (say Sub extends Super) , then an overridden method of class Sub cannot broaden its access from its Super class method implementation? Then how does the overriding Objects clone() method work (protected clone() in Object to public clone() in your class ) ?
Thanx in advance.

>>still how can you override a method of form protected clone() to public clone() ?
public class BaseClass
{
protected Object clone() { return null; }
}
public class SubClass extends BaseClass
{
public Object clone() { return null; }
}
This is called inheritance. The subclass inherits the properties of the 'parent' class and can override existing methods. The idea is that the base class is the most abstract (no pun intended here) so it can have a lot of extensibility.

The opposite - it can't narrow access
