Size of Directory Java

Okay so ive attached my code and it find the size in bytes of files and also directories. My problem is when the user inputs a directory name if there is NO subdirectories then it returns the correct file size but when there is a subdirectory(or a folder within the folder) it reports a wrong size and from what ive been getting it keeps returning 9606 bytes. can anyone help me plz.

you only check one level of folders.
need something recursive to check directories

Yea ive been told i need a recursive function i just do not know how to go about creating one. Thus why i posted my question hoping someone could help me out. I looked at the transverse stuff but ive never dealt with that before and id at least like to use something that i can understand or know for later reference.

if you look at the code above you'll see it shows a traverse() method. That traverse() method would then call itself to process any directories.
