The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Transparent Color

Hallo I am trying to make transparent color this way

import java.awt.*;
import java.applet.*;

public class DrawExample extends Applet
{
     Color weirdColor;
     public void init()
     {
          int a=100;
          int b=100;
          int c=100;
          int ALFA=50;
          weirdColor = new Color(a,b,c,ALFA);
       }
     public void stop()
     {
     }
     public void paint(Graphics g)
     {
     g.setColor(weirdColor);
     g.fillRect(120,120,60,60);
     }

}

After succesfull compiling IE makes error
error java.lang.NoSuchMethod : java.awt.Color : method init(IIII)V not found

In java2 documentation there is such method
Color(int red,int green,int blue,int alfa)   rgba= 0...255.

But without ALFA everything works fine.
I have
Java2 RE 1.3...1 installed
Java2 SDK 1.3
and ms virtual machine I installed before componets above.

IE 5.5 has  JIT comiler enabled.
and I am using win98SE
