Hi Folks..
I need to know if RMI can be used in VJ 6.0 ? Is it possible ? It would be a great help if someone could send me a small "Hello World" application that illustrates the use of RMI in VJ 6.0. I am relatively new to Java, so it would be a big help if elaborate explanation regarding the compilation and classpath etc are included along with the code. If there is a website which tells me how to do this in a simple way giving some example, it will also be helpful.
Someone please help me out.

But I wanted a small "Hello Wolrd" example that uses RMI in VJ 6.0. I need to know the exact compilation steps and classpath settings etc.. and where to start the RMI registry, how to create the stubs etc in VJ 6.0. I have done a bit of RMI programming in JDK 2, and now my application requites porting it to VJ. Hence, the need.

No, Visual J++ does not support RMI, it supports DCOM. (It also does not support Swing and some other APIs). This is the reason for Suns lawsuit against microsoft.
There used to be a patch available at the javasoft site which added the missing classes to Visual J++ but since the product is no longer supported, even by Microsoft, I am not aware if the patch is still available.

In my past expierences using VJ++ w/ the JRE 1.2 and beyond, it does not do well implementing the new features. You can still use it simply as an editor but you will have difficulty implementing and of the J2EE features and getting it to work w/ the newer runtimes.
